I’m pretty disappointed in the event cancellation, too, because they didn’t mitigate any risk with the cancelation. My wife raced to the finish line without ever being told the race situation had changed.

If you cancel a race, block the course, knock the pace out, and make sure everyone knows to take the downhills cautiously.

Also, with the heat warning a week earlier, they knew this was going to happen. Starting at 730AM, adding water stations, etc, could have prevented a lot of issues. I know it’s hindsight, but it feels like they were caught by surprise despite having warned riders multiple times. Riders could have been better prepared, but so could the race organizers.

We all know you won that race and I hope you find yourself in a jersey. Just make sure it looks more like your IPT national champs jersey than Derek Gee-West’s ugly kit 😂

"And, although Cycling Canada officials have since said they will find a solution for this, I received no medal, no jersey, and I have no results, and that is lame." Christ, what a disappointment after everything... When nobody can lose, everyone loses. Great story, nonetheless.
